Lauren's Summer Project

Lauren decided to make a quilt to take to college. She chose 7 different fabrics and machine pieced and quilted it. She got it done just in time to pack up before we left. I knew some day all the quilts hung on all our walls would wear off on her!

The last step was to clip 1/4 inch slashes in all the exposed seam allowances and then wash it so they would fray and create a frizzy frame around each block. We thought this would be a quick step. It took three of us hours to do!

Here it is on her bed in her door. It looks cozy--flannel quilt AND flannel sheets.

This is just something strange that happened. One morning a bird flying through our backyard dropped this on our deck. We live quite a ways from the Sound, so it carried it pretty far.
