When we arrived in Corral at 11:30 PM every bug on the prairie came out to greet us. One even flew in Lauren's ear which she really didn't like. Fortunately, only the grasshoppers are out and about in the mornings--at least for a little while.

Karl's Dad boards horses. Karl brought out a pan of grain to get them to come closer to us.

We didn't take the time to saddle them up for a ride this year. Last year he had older, tamer horses. These were young and spry.

This is one of the 100-year-old barns.

If you click on this picture so it enlarges, you will see a Great Horned Owl. He let us walk into the barn quite a ways before he flew out silently over our heads. He is white and looks like Hedwig and huge!

We slept in the 100-year-old homestead house in which Karl's father was born. It doesn't have indoor plumbing. This is the 100-year-old outhouse which, fortunately, we did NOT have to use!
