A Walk in the Woods

Mowich Lake

We have been waiting for the skies to clear so we could do a hike Mason wanted to do before his mission.  It rained on Monday and the weather predicted the skies to clear.  We started at Mowich Lake, which is Chinook for deer, in the middle of a cloud.

The water was exceptionally clear.

We hiked along the lake for a half mile and then headed in a different direction.

We started at almost 5,000 feet and the trail went higher.

We had to go around some big rocks.

 We were headed to Eunice Lake and then to Tolmie Peak Lookout, which is an old fire lookout.

The signs confirmed we were headed in the right direction.

We rested for a few minutes and then looked at the fire lookout up on the top of the peak.  We told Mason to go on without us and we may or may not make it to the top.

Mason took off climbing up to the peak and we slowly followed in his footsteps.

Fortunately, we made it and here he is standing on the balcony of the look out tower.

And look what we could see out the rear window of the car, but not until we were driving home!
