Thanksgiving SLC Style

We made the drive all day Wednesday, which meant the girls did the food shopping and prep.  We just had to roll out the rolls and cook it all on Thanksgiving morning.

So we did some crossword puzzles while we waited for it to cook.

And we played some games.

It turned out delicious and our Airbnb had the perfect size table for us!

We had a variation on some of the favorites.

We took a walk in the Aves since we were too full.

Linds found her own dog park.

The next day we explored the neighborhood.  Karl found a fellow scholar in the Capitol.

And the girls got their car licensed in Utah!

Linds practiced her museum presentation geared for Kindergartners.

We wandered through the Gilgal Sculpture garden  created by Thomas Battersby Child, Jr. in the mid-twentieth century.  His goal in creating the garden was to "shut out fear and keep one's mind young and alert to the last, no matter how perilous the times."

Malachi “. . . I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children and the heart of the children to the fathers . . .”  The red heart represents the living and the white heart the dead.

"Monument to Peace"
” . . . and they shall beat their swords into plow-shares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."

We toured Temple Square on the first night they lit the lights.

To say it was crowded is an understatement.

We had brunch at the Straw Market on our way out of town on Saturday morning.
