Tree Fellers

This tree is probably the family's favorite tree -- a Madrone which is a Northwest native tree and only grows within a short distance of the ocean. We have had a swing hanging from the standing branch which the neighborhood kids would stop and swing on. But an arborist stopped and wanted us to pay him $300 to chop it down because it is diseased. So, today was the day we took it down. I didn't get a before picture--they were too excited to start cutting.

The wood is very hard and went through two chains on the chain saw--but we are ready for a cold winter. This stack is now in the woodshed thanks to Mike, Mason and Spencer.

Mike and Karl kept going after the stump even though it was below ground level.

We filled the blue container in no time. Good thing we have a green belt to drag the rest of it to decompose there.

These pictures are not in order --more dealing with the trunk.

The neighbor came out and looked at what they were doing and they ended up chopping his tree down too. It was skinny one that came down quickly.
