Spencer in the parking lot waiting to hike into their camping spot. He didn't know it yet, but he was suffering from altitude sickness. He got so sick they had to make him a bed on a sled and it took him a few hours to recover. The snow was a base layer of 14 feet.

The hike in was a little ways. Snow shoes would have been very handy.

Spencer cutting blocks. They sawed them out and then let them "cure" before they stacked them.

Mason and Ben cleared a big space for their igloo. The first step is to tromp down the snow to clear your floor.

Ben tried to convince us before they left that you get really warm working in the snow. Notice he is not even wearing a jacket!

The finished project! They still added extra snow to patch all the holes. But they both fit in the cave and found it so warm they were the last to get up in the morning.

They had to keep all the food in the cars to protect it from foxes. They even saw some prowling around camp.

The mountain was out. Looks small at 6,000 feet.

I don't think I could ever do that! It is definitely not on my to do list! Looks like they enjoyed it, though!
p.s. Mason is looking more and more like Karl...
