Aloha Spring Break

Karl was sent to Hawaii to do some "work" over his spring break. We were excited to learn we were staying in the above hotel (Waikiki Marriott.) When we walked in to the lobby, we realized it was the very same hotel we stayed in the last time we were in Honolulu nine years ago only it was under different management. There are hundreds of hotel options so we did not expect the same hotel.

We got up our first morning at 6:00 am (9:00 am to us) to hike Diamond Head.

We walked from our hotel to the park and then to the top of the crater. All in all, it was about 3 hours of walking.
View of Waikiki from the top of Diamond Head viewing area.

Here's evidence Karl really did do some work. He gave a lecture for an alumni gathering and attended another meeting as well.

We toured the Foster Botanical Gardens in Honolulu. Above is a canon ball tree. There were warning signs to watch out for falling canons.

This is the giant Redwood of Palm trees!

A pink pineapple!
I really like the symmetry of this palm tree.

We found a Vietnamese restaurant in the China Town section of Honolulu. The owner could even speak Mandarin! Karl had to get a bowl of pho.

Waikiki at sunset.
