Work and the Glory 4/23/05

If we had a digital camera I would put some pictures here:

You would see Lauren spreading beauty bark, Lindsey spreading beauty bark, Spence & Mel braving the blackberry bushes to undercover beer bottles and trash, Mason picking up trash, Karl and Grandpa fighting with blackberry bushes, Grandma sacking up blackberry canes. All this at DeLong park . aka. . "the LONG park." It was parks appreciation day in Tacoma. Our ward sent 50+ people.

I can see it all happening. So who got stuck the most by the blackberries?

Karl is pretty scarred. . .but happy! He briefed the mayor on who and we are (our stake) and how happy we were to be helping.

TACOMA, Washington - As part of Parks Appreciation Day, hundreds of
people, including many Church members, volunteered Saturday at 52
recreational facilities and environmentally sensitive places throughout
Pierce County. The volunteers worked on projects ranging from picking up
litter to planting, pruning, weed control, and landscaping. "It's a good
opportunity to serve," said Tyler Call, one of the volunteers. "Just to get
out and help the community."
